Junior Braves Committee

The Bendigo Junior Braves Committee (JBC) is a volunteer BBA subcommittee responsible for overseeing the operations, governance, and long term development of the Bendigo Junior Braves representative basketball program.

Along with compulsory positions appointed by the Bendigo Basketball Association, the JBC work closely with the Director of Coaching & Athlete Development (DoCAD). Together they manage athlete pathways, uphold child safety standards, support development of coaches, support team managers, coordinate communication, fundraising, and ensure the program continues to provide high quality development opportunities for young athletes across the region.

Coaches Liaison

The Coach Liaison serves as the primary communication link between the club’s coaching group and the committee. The role ensures coaches feel supported, informed, and connected, while helping maintain consistent coaching standards, positive culture, and smooth operational delivery across all teams.

Coaches Liaisons Key Tasks
  • Serve as the main communication link between coaches and the JBC.
  • Support the DoCAD with Junior Braves recruitment, onboard, and support volunteer coaches.
  • Assist the DoCAD with coach allocation and team placement.
  • Support coaches in implementing the club's coaching philosophy and values.
  • Maintain an up to date register of coaches, qualifications, and accreditation requirements.
  • Gather feedback from coaches and provide recommendations to the JBC for continuous improvement.


Team Manager Liaison

The Team Manager Liaison acts as the primary support, coordinator, and point of contact for all team managers within the club. This role ensures consistent communication, smooth team operations, and alignment with club requirements. The Liaison helps team managers feel supported, informed, and confident in their responsibilities.


Team Manger Liaisons Key Tasks
  • Serve as the central contact for all team managers.
  • Assist team managers with understanding their role, seasonal tasks, and expectations.
  • Help resolve minor issues within teams and escalate concerns to the committee when necessary.
  • Ensure team managers follow club policies, codes of conduct, and child safety requirements.
  • Confirm that team documentation (attendance, injury reports, working with children checks, etc.) is completed accurately.
  • Coordinate pre‑season briefings for all team managers.
  • Provide updated handbooks, checklists, and resources.
  • Encourage positive team environments and uphold club values.
  • Support team managers in managing parent communication and expectations.

Uniform & Equipment Coordinator

The Uniform & Equipment Coordinator supports the smooth operation of the basketball club by managing playing uniforms, and equipment used by players, coaches, and teams. This volunteer role ensures stock is maintained, distributed fairly, and presented to a professional standard that reflects the club’s values and identity.

Uniform & Equipment Coordinator Key Tasks
  • Coordinate ordering, distribution, and tracking of all club uniforms and apparel.
  • Maintain accurate records of uniform allocations.
  • Maintain an up‑to‑date inventory of all club equipment, including balls, bibs, first aid kits, coaching tools, and training aids.
  • Coordinate repairs, replacements, and new purchases as required.
  • Prepare team equipment kits at the start of each season and oversee collection at season end.
  • Communicate with uniform suppliers, apparel partners, and equipment vendors.
  • Work with the Treasurer and Committee to approve expenses and maintain financial transparency.

Child Safety Officer

The Child Safe Officer is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all children and young people involved in the basketball club. The role ensures the Bendigo Junior Braves meet their child safety obligations, manages concerns appropriately, and supports the implementation of the Basketball Victoria's Child Safe Policies and Procedures.

The Child Safe Officer acts as a trusted and independent point of contact for children, parents, volunteers, coaches, officials, and members regarding child safety matters.


Child Safety Officers Key Tasks

  • Assist with the development, implementation, and review of Child Safe Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensure volunteers, coaches, team managers and committee members understand their child safety responsibilities.
  • Monitor compliance with Working with Children Check requirements and other screening obligations.
  • Maintain confidential records relating to child safety matters.
  • Promote respectful behaviours and appropriate conduct within the club environment.

Sponsorship Coordinator

The Sponsorship Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with sponsors and community partners to secure financial support for the Bendigo Junior Braves Basketball Club. This role helps ensure the club can provide quality programs, equipment, and development opportunities for players while building strong connections within the local business community.

Sponsorship Coordinator Key Tasks
  • Develop and implement a sponsorship strategy to support club objectives.
  • Identify and approach potential sponsors from local businesses, organisations, and community groups.
  • Prepare sponsorship proposals, presentations, and partnership packages.
  • Work with BSL Community Partners lead to ensure both accurate governance.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with existing and prospective sponsors.
  • Ensure sponsors receive agreed benefits, recognition, and promotional opportunities.
  • Coordinate sponsor signage, advertisements, and acknowledgements across club uniforms, and events.
  • Work closely with the Fundraising Coordinator, Media Liaison Officer, and Committee to maximise sponsorship opportunities.
  • Maintain a sponsorship database and records of all agreements and communications.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for long term partnerships and strategic collaborations.

Fundraising Coordinator

The Fundraising Coordinator is responsible for planning, organising, and delivering fundraising activities that support the Bendigo Junior Braves Basketball Club's programs, equipment purchases, player development opportunities, and club initiatives. The role plays a key part in ensuring the club remains financially sustainable and accessible for all junior players.

Fundraising Coordinators Key Tasks
  • Work closely with the Treasurer to monitor fundraising income and expenses.
  • Seek sponsorship and donation opportunities from local businesses and community organisations.
  • Ensure all fundraising activities comply with relevant club policies and Victorian regulations.
  • Maintain records of fundraising activities, contacts, and outcomes.
  • Engage volunteers, parents, players, and supporters to assist with fundraising initiatives.
  • Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan in consultation with the Committee.
  • Organise and manage fundraising events.

Grants Coordinator

The Grants Coordinator is responsible for identifying, applying for, and managing grant opportunities that support the growth and sustainability of the Bendigo basketball community. This role helps secure funding for equipment, player development programs, and community initiatives. This role goes beyond the JBC and may assist with Referees, Domestic and other BBA connect activities 


Grants Coordinators Key Tasks

  • Research and identify relevant local, state, and national grant opportunities.
  • Prepare and submit grant applications on behalf of the BBA
  • Work with committee members to gather information and supporting documentation.
  • Track grant outcomes and funding received.
  • Provide regular updates to the committee on funding opportunities and progress.
  • Maintain a grants calendar and monitor application deadlines.
  • Ensure grant applications are viable to BBA
  • Maintain records of applications, approvals, and acquittals.
